I have decided to add some stories that are about or dealing with my son, Pierce and my daughter, Preslie.  The stories dealing with my son will be called “In a Pickle with Pierce.”  The stories with Preslie will be labeled, “Lunch with Preslie.”  In either blog it will stories we can get from things that my kids deal with in their daily lives.  So without further ado here is the first “In a Pickle with Pierce.”

Pierce: Dad, I got myself in a pickle.

Me: Ok, Scrub, what is happening?

Pierce: Well, I left my keys at my friends apartment and they already left for work.  Plus I took an uber so I didn’t waste gas.

Me: Well, I don’t know what to say.

Pierce: Oh, that’s not it, I also lost my wallet and I think someone turned it in to the apartment office.

How many of us have found ourselves with some of the basic things we need? Or how many times have we been in a “pickle”?  Many times in our lives we find ourselves faced with a trying situation or as some used to say….caught between a rock and a hard place.  We might feel overwhelmed or alone.  Frustrated and scared.  However, as Christians we are taught not to think that way.  Jesus says in Matthew 11:28-29 to cast all our worries and fears on Him.  We can place all our sticky and icky situations on him and he will carry them and us to calmer waters.  Also in Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus says not to worry as God takes care of the birds he will surely take care of you!

So if you find your self in a pickle; 1. Take a deep breath 2. Say a prayer for peace and self-control 3. handle the things that you can handle and give the rest to God.

What was the end of this “pickle” story for my son:

The office did have his wallet and they gave him another key to his apartment so at least he had somewhere to hang out until his friend returned home and could get his car keys, etc. back to them.  For referenece, we laughed through the whole thing because Pierce knows whose his Father is…..
